Sample Estimate to Convert Your Logs or Lumber into Flooring

This estimate assumes you are starting with 1,000 board feet of well-manufactured and properly kiln dried random width grade lumber. Detailing all processes, this estimates the typical yields and cost to manufacture a 3-4-5″ random width plank floor.

Your actual yields will vary depending on numerous factors. The cut and quality of the material supplied has a direct correlation to your yields, as does specifying a single or random width product. Defecting for grade, single lengths and widths can easily increase waste factors well above 50%. This example should be considered a conservative yield average and for illustrative purposes only.

Estimated Waste Factors are calculated utilizing random width kiln dried lumber. Fixed widths can double the waste factor depending on the rough size of your lumber and desired widths of your finished product. You will be charged only for the board footage processed and provided with a net width tally of your finished products.
